PACIFIC RIM MARTIAL ARTS CONSORTIUM

The Pacific Rim Martial Arts Consortium serves the collective interests of the three participating martial arts associations listed below.  These include the Pacific Tai Kenpo Karate Association, the Christian Kenpo Karate Association, and Findley's Pacific Rim Martial Arts Schools International Association. Findley's Pacific Rim Martial Arts Schools International Association is a multiple style martial arts association that welcomes practitioners who train in the arts derived from China, Hawaii, Israel, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Polynesia, Indonesia, Thailand etc. Because of its multi style approach, it is the most inclusive of the three participating associations, and the association with the greatest potential for unlimited expansion of its membership rolls.

The Pacific Tai Kenpo Karate Association only serves the interests of Martial Artists who are devoted to the teaching philosophy of the late Kenpo Grandmaster, David German.  Its exclusive interest and emphasis upon Grandmaster German’s teachings make the potential for numerical growth more limited.

The Christian Kenpo Karate Association has a doubly narrowed focus in that it is a style specific organization that only serves the interests of Kenpo practitioners, and one that is faith specific that is committed to supporting martial artists who are self-conscious regarding their Christian Faith and devotion to Jesus Christ.

THE DIRECTOR OF THE CONSORTIUM

Gary Findley began his training and study of the martial arts in 1967.  Which means that he recently finished celebrating his 50th year of uninterrupted Martial Arts training. He currently serves as  Consortium Director/Grandmaster, and is eager to provide support for the several martial arts associations listed above. He works tirelessly to guide, train, teach, promote and certify martial artists who desire membership in any of the above martial arts associations that are connected to the Consortium. Mr. Findley has trained, studied, taught and fought in various venues throughout the United States.

His current rankings in various martial arts disciplines are as follows: Hawaiian Kenpo: 10th Degree Black Belt; Polynesian Goju: 10th Degree Black Belt; American Tai Kenpo: 8th Degree Black Belt; Ed Parker's American Kenpo: 7th Degree Black Belt, Al Tracy's Kenpo System: 6th Degree Black Belt,  Kajukenbo: 4th Degree Black Belt.

As a former tournament competitor, he was crowned Arizona's State Karate Champion, and represented well by competing in both the United States and World Karate Championships. He has been unanimously inducted (2003) into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

PACIFIC TAI KENPO ASSOCIATION

The Pacific Tai Kenpo Association exists to provide leadership, support, instruction, rank promotion and certification in CONCEPTS that are associated with American Tai Kenpo and the interests, ideas, values, and martial arts innovations of the late Kenpo Grandmaster David German.  Its Director does not pretend to have comprehensive knowledge of everything Grandmaster German believed or taught, neither does the Director intend to emulate or reproduce the precise curriculum that he had used during any particular period of his.

The Pacific Tai Kenpo Association is a CONCEPTS rather than a CURRICULUM based approach to the teachings of Grandmaster German. This enables a martial artist of any style to benefit from the principles and concepts of the late Grandmaster.  This was something Mr. German was optimistic about, that is, one style borrowing from another, and being able to incorporate action that would and could provide a transition to another action.

THE CHRISTIAN KENPO KARATE ASSOCIATION

The Christian Kenpo Karate Association is an association designed to provide services and support to all its members in a manner that enables Bible Believing Christians to participate in the martial arts apart from any Dualistic Philosophy or Eastern Mysticism.  It does so to enable its members to maintain clear consciences regarding their Christian faith while they develop skills that enhance athleticism, physical fitness, and self defense ability for protection against physical assault.

THE CKKA APPROACH

The Christian Kenpo Karate Association as an association, does not desire to replicate the mission of the local churches or of church denominations, but desires to help Christians maintain their committments to those churches.  Therefore, the CKKA does not furnish or ask that its members adopt a particular Statement of Faith.  Instead, the CKKA encourages Christians to familiarize themselves with and to maintain strong commitments to the doctrinal standards of their own denominations.  The Christian Kenpo Karate Association does not supply its members with Bible Study guides or evangelistic literature.  We believe that the members of our association and that the churches they belong to will be better served to seek these type of materials from their own churches or its pastors.  However, the CKKA does encourage its members, (especially its blackbelt instructors) to look for ways they may use their Kenpo (training and teaching) to reach out to the lost with the Gospel and to encourage one another to maturity in their Christian walk.
